Age: 23
Have you graduated yet?: Yes
What city do you live in?: Nottingham
Where do you live?: On my own
What’s your current working situation?: Full-time job, also studying towards a professional qualification
What do you think you’ve struggled with the most after leaving education?
The exhaustion of balancing full-time work with what feels like full-time education – this will be the case for 2/3 more years and with the added pressure of losing your job if you fail a certain number of exams. It’s daunting and stressful.
What do you wish you’d known or had done before leaving university?
I don’t think uni does prepare you for the ‘real world’ but I personally wouldn’t go back and change a thing – it was the best 3 years of my life as cliche as that is and I am so happy with what I learned and did during my time in that uni bubble.
Do you think there’s enough resources out there for young people making the transition from education to adult life? (If so, what? If not, what do you want to see more of?)
No there isn’t – many articles I’ve found have blasé advice. I prefer honest real-life stories of successes and struggles – I find these the most on LinkedIn.

It is interesting to see the different thoughts people have about university. I agree that there isn’t enough resources to help young people transition, or even get a job after college. When people pay to go to uni, they need to have a quality education, value-add learning experience to help them excel in the real world :).
